How To Be a Tourist in Your Own Town

With Summer right around the corner, you are probably are ready for a vacation from your everyday life. An escape from the ordinary, however, does not always involve a plane ticket to an exotic locale or a reservation at a fancy hotel. With a little planning and foresight, you can turn your hometown into a fun, 5-star destination that is Facebook-photo worthy. ramblist guidebooks

I love exploring my city like a tourist; Whether it is a trip to Napa, exploring San Francisco, or strolling around Palo Alto--there is always something new to discover. And, if you are anything like me, when we plan visits to other cities, we often buy guidebooks galore and spend countless hours researching activities, and reading restaurant reviews online. Why not pretend you are a tourist in your hometown and get a travel guide (such as the Lonely Planet or Frommer's series) and learn about everything your city has to offer. The more you research, the more likely you are to discover fun ideas you have never thought of, such as walking tours of downtown or if you live in a smaller city, day-trip destinations that you have never been to.
