Did you make a goal for the new year? I'm sharing with you 9 mini tweaks you can make that will make a huge impact on your year ahead. We are already through half of the week of the new year. It seems like everyone is extremely enthusiastic about their resolutions, their new set of a "new-you" goals. I mean, have you noticed how full the gym is lately?

This month, I'm sure you'll be working hard at getting to your goals. But the reality of things when Spring time rolls around, you'll slowly forget about the resolutions you set out. Let's not have that happen, babe! See, the new year isn't your only opportunity to set a healthy resolution. By creating and tweaking a few habits, you'll be able to stay on the path for a healthier you. Make these small changes to your lifestyle and start seeing (and feeling) big results in 2016!

Mini Tweak #1: Make a homemade breakfast every morning.

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. And, why wouldn't you start the day right with a solid breakfast? Take the time to enjoy a healthy recipe in the morning, or make these breakfasts in advance to grab when you're on the go.

Mini Tweak #2: Add intervals to your workout.

By adding intervals, you'll be maximizing your cardio workout. With interval training, you'll burn more calories without getting your body complacent at a steady pace. It also revs up your metabolism. I love running. But to maximize my runs, I'll walk 2-minutes, run 2-minutes and repeat this for two rounds, five times. Use an app like GymBoss, where you can create an alarm for your intervals.

Mini Tweak #3: Drink more water.

Most of us aren't drinking enough. Water is vital! From boosting your metabolism to improving your immunity, water is the one elixir you need more of in 2016. Make a point to sip all day. To figure out how much water you need a day, multiply by 2/3. Next, you want to multiply your weight by 2/3 (or 67%) to determine how much water to drink daily. For example, if you weighed 175 pounds you would multiply that by 2/3 and learn you should be drinking about 117 ounces of water every day. Don't want to do the math? Then check out this water calculator.

Mini Tweak #4: Add weights to your workout routine.

Don't be afraid to incorporating a weight routine to your normal gym flow. This will help create muscle (not bulk.) If you already have a weight routine, grab heavier weights. The weight increase can be the swift kick your muscles need to show off your strong and toned physique. Don't be afraid to up the ante. Just keep in mind.... more muscle mass = faster metabolism.

Mini Tweak #5: Try a new class.

Try something new will help keep your body guessing and see results sooner. By trying new classes you'll be stepping out of your comfort zone and challenging yourself. Don't be afraid to try CrossFit, Bikram, Kickboxing, Boot Camp, or Krav Mega. In major cities utilize ClassPass, which allows you to try different studios in your area for a monthly fee. I f you're nervous to try a new activity, grab a friend!

Mini Tweak #6: Say bye to dairy.

Eliminating dairy from your diet can make a BIG difference in your health. But, if you can't live without, try eating it once a day. And make sure it's the right kind. The best dairy products are full-fat, from cows that are grass-fed and/or raised on pasture. Grass-fed/pasture-raised tend to have a much better nutrient profile, including more of beneficial fatty acids and more fat soluble vitamins.

Mini Tweak #7: Eat more protein.

This macronutrient makes a huge difference when it comes to losing weight, staying full, and crucial for growth and repair of tissues and cells. Make sure you're getting enough every day.

Mini Tweak #8: Cut the condiments.

Condiments might be the thing that is sabotaging your healthy eating habits. You'll be saving tons of calories from your meal by cutting out mayo, ketchup, or fatty salad dressing. Sub these healthier condiments instead with other alternatives. Swap fatty salad dressing (I'm looking at you Ranch and Thousand Island) for olive oil and a balsamic or apple cider vinegar. Mustard for ketchup. (Or make your own.) If you can't live without mayo, try Hampton Creek's, Just Mayo. It's a much healthier alternative.

Mini Tweak #9: Get to bed earlier.

Heading to bed earlier, and make sure you're getting, at least, seven hours of sleep every night will make a big difference. You'll start waking up feeling incredible, energized, and ready to welcome the day.
